PRESS RELEASE
31 March, 2009 LOCAL CHILDREN GET BEHIND THE LITTLE GYMS SEARCH FOR PREMISES Local youngsters have teamed up to try and help The Little Gym find premises for its childrens gymnasium. An established franchise company, The Little Gym has seven centres throughout the UK but, having searched for nearly two years, for a 3-4,000 sq foot site in South Buckinghamshire, it still cannot find suitable premises. A child-focused concept, which originates from the US, The Little Gym offers a unique programme for children of all abilities, from 4 months to 12 years. Themed classes, which incorporate gymnastics, music and movement, evolve with each stage of a childs cognitive and motor skills development. Activities are designed to boost confidence, co-ordination, balance, rhythm and flexibility, as well as listening and social skills, giving children vital tools for life. All centres run with a permanent staff, providing local employment, and are used for mother and baby, pre-school and primary classes, as well as parties, school holiday camps and other local family events. In addition to South Buckinghamshire, The Little Gym is also searching for sites in Hampstead and North West London, Guildford, Basingstoke, Weybridge, Harrogate, Windsor and Islington. Josiane Wilson, aged ten and part of the campaign commented, Gymnastics is a great way to keep healthy but there arent many clubs and most classes are really competitive. Sister Georgia, aged eight added, Having somewhere close-by, where we could have fun and get active, would be really cool. Adrian Huntley, Owner of The Little Gym franchise in South Bucks and, himself, parent of three young boys, commented, I heard about The Little Gym through a need to find a motorskills activity, that involved gymnastics, for my own three sons. Theres a real need for quality programmes yet, despite childrens health being at the forefront of everyones minds, we just cant find a site. Id love to hear from anyone that might be able to help.
