The Little Gym® has been a leader in children's motor skills development for more than 30 years.
In the mid-1970s, the concept sprang from the heart and mind of founder, Robin Wes, a successful kinesiologist in South Africa. Robin envisioned a nurturing place where children could grow - physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially. He didn’t believe that physical education should be taught in a competitive environment. Instead, he imagined an environment filled with the spirit to achieve instead of the pressure to win. At the time, his non-competitive approach was unheard of. It was revolutionary.
He opened the first The Little Gym® in 1976, in Bellevue, Washington. Then, in 1992, The Little Gym® International Inc. was incorporated for the purpose of franchising Robin's concept. Nine years later, Alexander de Wit opened The Little Gym® Europe headquarters. And, since these early days, we've perfected the teaching methods into an expanded curriculum, with each class building on the lessons learned in the previous ones. And while Robin continues to create the original music for each lesson, his inspiring vision enables hundreds of thousands of children around the world to learn the skills and develop the confidence needed for a lifetime of success.
